Sudanese Alliance for Rights
The Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR) is a robust network of human rights advocates and humanitarian actors across Sudan. Our mission is to advance the promotion and protection of human rights by empowering defenders and humanitarian workers with the tools they need to succeed.
Where we are focused
Three things shape our work this year: protecting human rights defenders who remain inside Sudan, sustaining documentation that meets evidentiary standards, and keeping Sudan on the agenda of the bodies that can act on it.
Documentation matters only if the people doing it are safe enough to continue. Our protection work — relocation support, digital security, legal accompaniment — is the foundation everything else rests on.
We train and support partners to document to a standard that investigators, courts and treaty bodies can rely on, and we store what is collected securely.
We take that evidence to the UN human rights system, the African Commission, and the states and institutions with leverage.
