Six Civilians Killed in Sudanese Airstrike on Al-Kuma City, North Darfur

Al-Kuma, February 23- SAR

Six civilians, including a woman, were killed on Sunday and several others were injured in a Sudanese Army airstrike on Al-Kuma city, North Darfur State, according to reports from the Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR).

Local residents emphasized that the airstrike, which targeted shelters housing displaced families in the city, caused widespread destruction, while the SAR sources on the ground are continuing to gather further details on the material and human toll of the attack.

The SAR notes that this is the 108th airstrike on the city since the conflict began.

Activists have described the ongoing airstrikes on Al-Kuma as “a deliberate targeting of civilians, and an unprecedented massacre,” with the repeated Sudanese army air raids causing widespread destruction, leaving bodies scattered throughout the city, which remains gripped by fear and sorrow.

Several observers and human rights advocates have described the ongoing Sudanese army airstrikes in Al-Kuma since the onset of the conflict as a “full-fledged war crime” against civilians, amid rising calls for international intervention to impose a ban on the Sudanese air force.
