Statement on the Drone Attacks and Remarks by the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS)

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR) strongly condemns the drone attacks carried out on November 5, 2025, against the cities of Zalingei and Kabkabiya in Darfur, which caused civilian casualties and injuries. These attacks are a serious violation of international humanitarian law, threaten innocent lives, and worsen the suffering of Sudanese civilians already affected by conflict.

Following the attack, the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) issued a statement that raises concerns about potentially disrupting peace. In the statement, it is claimed that the drone attacks “were attacked by drones launched from a military base in a neighboring country.” These comments, made at a sensitive time a sensitive time when efforts are underway to reach a humanitarian truce, are concerning because they could inflame tensions, damage trust, and complicate efforts to uphold a ceasefire that is crucial for protecting civilians and enabling humanitarian aid.

The current proposed humanitarian truce, being negotiated through the joint efforts of national, regional, and international mediators—including the United States, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia—aims to allow safe delivery of aid and medical supplies, facilitate the evacuation of the wounded and passage of civilians, provide a temporary halt in hostilities as a step toward a permanent ceasefire and inclusive political process, and uphold Sudan’s sovereignty, protect civilians, and support a peaceful resolution in line with international humanitarian law.

While we do not blame TASIS for its statement, the allegations that ‘were launched from a military base in a neighboring country’ highlight the urgent need for an independent and impartial investigation to establish facts, ensure accountability, and rebuild trust in the peace process. We therefore urge the international community to launch an investigation.

Additionally, neighboring countries should not support any party in the conflict, but instead actively promote peace, dialogue, and civilian protection. Constructive involvement by neighboring states is vital for maintaining the humanitarian truce and advancing a sustainable political solution.

SAR reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting civilians, promoting human rights, and achieving a just and lasting peace in Sudan. The Sudanese people must not be further endangered by military escalation or inflammatory rhetoric. Now is the time for collective restraint, truth, and steadfast dedication to peace.
