Assassination of Imam of Khatam Al-Anbiya Mosque in El-Fasher city, North Darfur

El Fasher, Feb. 3 – SAR

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR) has monitored escalated military confrontations in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State.

As a result of this escalation, the city witnessed yesterday (Sunday) the assassination of Sheikh Al-Sadiq Ahmed Abdullah.

Sheikh Abdullah was the Imam (lead prayers) and Khatib of Khatam Al-Anbiya Mosque in Al- Radeef neighborhood in El Fasher.

He was also Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at El Fasher University and the University’s Acting Chancellor.

The alliance’s follow-up reports indicate that in addition to Sheikh Abdullah, 13 other civilians were killed in the wake of the military clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the southwestern neighborhoods of El Fasher.

It is to be noted that Sheik Abdulla held a PhD in Quranic Studies and Islamic Sciences.
