More than 85 Killed, Dozens Injured in Airstrike on Omdurman

Omdurman – SAR, March 11

Over 85 people, including women and children, were killed, and dozens more were severely injured in an airstrike carried out by the Sudanese Army on Sunday, March 9, targeting the Al-Shiqla and Al-Salha areas south of Omdurman city, north of the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

The airstrike targeted the street linking the Al-Shiqla and Al-Salha areas, west of Omdurman Islamic University, both of which have been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces since the war began, an eyewitness told the Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR).

According to SAR’s follow-up reports, the airstrike also caused widespread destruction in the targeted areas, while video footage received by the alliance from the site revealed the extensive damage caused by the attack.

The alliance strongly condemned the airstrikes, stating that the deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilian areas constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law.

The alliance called for an immediate cessation of hostilities against civilians and urged the international community to take urgent action to hold those responsible accountable.
