Retired Police Colonel Jamaan, former director of the Al-Nasr Police Department, was killed in front of his house in the Mayo neighborhood, south of Sudan’s capital Khartoum, on Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025, eyewitnesses said.

According to reports from the Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR), the killing was carried out by individuals wearing uniforms of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and riding motorcycles.

While the exact motives for the assassination remain unclear, the SAR noted that the victim was a member of the Bani Halba tribe.

His death has sparked significant unrest in the area, with tribal members gathering at the scene to protest the crime.

Eyewitnesses further revealed that prior to the incident, the RSF military police had combed the May area, setting up a checkpoint in front of the Al-Nasr Police Department, where they detained several individuals and seized their weapons.

The checkpoint, which consisted of five military vehicles, remained in place for five hours before the RSF military police left the area, according to the eyewitnesses.
