Damazin – SAR, February 26, 2025
Sudanese military intelligence in Al-Roseires city, Blue Nile State, arrested five members of the Al-Ban Cultural Group on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 6:00 AM.
The Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR) confirmed that the detained members of the group were Abul-Majd Omer Karar (Engineer), Ahmed Qasim Mohamed (Lawyer), Abdul-Rahman Mohamed (Student at the College of Engineering, Blue Nile University), Mohamed Amin (Artist), and Tasabeeh Mohamed (Student).
According to SAR, the group members were arrested due to a play they performed at the Youth Training Center in Al-Roseires on February 21, 2025, after being accused by military intelligence of insulting the Sudanese armed forces in the play.
The arrest followed a media disinformation campaign on social media by some supporters of the army, who accused the group of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces and tarnishing the image of the armed forces through their performance.
Alliance sources confirmed that the detainees were taken by military intelligence and have not been released yet, with their current location unknown. Later, Tasabeeh Mohamed was released.
