Three Civilians Killed, Dozens Injured in Fresh Artillery Attack by Rapid Support Forces in El Obeid

At least three civilians were killed, and dozens more injured in a fresh artillery shelling attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El Obeid, the capital city of Sudan’s North Kordofan State, on Wednesday evening, March 12, 2025.

The three victims, all from the same family, were identified as Afaf Al-Sunni, her 12-year-old son Habib, and her 8-year-old daughter Suad, according to follow-up reports from the Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR).

El Obeid has been under relentless artillery shelling by the RSF over the past week.

The violence began on Monday, March 10, when the RSF indiscriminately shelled various parts of the city, killing a 12-year-old child and injuring three other civilians.

On Tuesday, March 11, the RSF launched more than five artillery shells on the Wad Elias neighborhood in El Obeid, claiming the life of a woman and leaving dozens of civilians injured.

The continued shelling has sparked panic among residents, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the city.
