Statement on Air Strike in Manwashi, South Darfur State

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights condemns in the strongest terms the air strike carried out today, Thursday, 30 January 2025, by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Manwashi Locality in South Darfur State. This strike, which targeted civilians in a densely populated area, represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and further exacerbates the ongoing crisis in the region.

We are currently undertaking an urgent investigation to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the air strike and determine the number of victims resulting from this attack.

Preliminary reports indicate extensive destruction, and we are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the affected civilians.

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights urges the international community to swiftly investigate this attack and hold those responsible fully accountable.

The people of Sudan, especially in Darfur, have endured unimaginable suffering. Urgent action is needed to end the violence and restore peace and security to the region.
