The Sudanese Alliance for Rights condemns, in the strongest terms, the airstrike, launched by the Sudanese Armed Forces’ warplanes on November 19, 2024, on Al-Kuma locality, north of El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State.

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights condemns, in the strongest terms, the airstrike, launched by the Sudanese Armed Forces’ warplanes on November 19, 2024, on Al-Kuma locality, north of El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State.

It is worth noting that Al-Kuma locality has endured numerous airstrikes since the war broke out in April 2023.

These airstrikes constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and other relevant international agreements, including the Geneva Convention and its protocols, which explicitly forbid the targeting of civilians and protected civilian objects.

Such actions are classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity, necessitating an urgent international investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable and prevent future occurrences.

The alliance calls on the conflicting parties to seek resolution through peaceful means and to avoid targeting innocent civilians and destruction of infrastructure.

The alliance urges the international community to put pressure on both warring parties to end the armed conflict through peaceful means, condemn the continued airstrikes against civilians, civilian objects, and infrastructure, and work for establishment of no-fly zones.

We call on International judicial bodies to open investigations into violations of human rights and international humanitarian law and crimes.

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights reaffirms its commitment to support the affected civilians and work to support efforts for peace and justice. It also calls on all parties to engage in a comprehensive dialogue to end the violence and ensure a safe future for all.
