Sudan’s Humanitarian Lifeline in Peril: Sudanese Alliance for Rights Condemns Drone Strikes on Aid Convoys

The Sudanese Alliance for Rights (SAR) strongly condemns the deliberate targeting of humanitarian aid in Sudan. On 12 November 2025, credible sources on the ground confirmed yet another drone attack, this time in Zalingei, Central Darfur, where drones struck trucks transporting humanitarian aid destined for Al Fasher, North Darfur. These supplies were intended for communities already enduring extreme deprivation and violence.

This tragic assault follows last week’s drone strikes in Al Maliha, North Darfur, where trucks carrying essential goods brought by Sudanese traders from Libya were similarly targeted. These repeated attacks on humanitarian lifelines are not only violations of international humanitarian law but also a cruel assault on civilians whose survival depends on this aid.

Sudan is in the midst of one of the world’s most severe humanitarian catastrophes. The war has displaced millions, decimated livelihoods, and erased access to healthcare, food, and basic protection. According to the World Health Organization, more than 15 million people across Sudan are now facing acute food insecurity, and the health system remains on the verge of total collapse. Hospitals have been destroyed, medical supplies looted, and disease outbreaks, cholera, measles, and malaria, continue to claim lives at an alarming rate. Every new attack on aid convoys deepens an already unimaginable suffering and pushes civilians further into despair.

The human cost of this war is staggering. Families across Darfur endure hunger, fear, and relentless violence. Mothers walk for days seeking food; children perish from preventable illnesses; entire communities are trapped without safe passage or relief. These attacks on aid convoys are not isolated incidents; they are part of a broader pattern of disregard for civilian life that has defined this conflict.

As the humanitarian crisis reaches unprecedented levels, the world must not look away.

We note that today, the United Nations Human Rights Council is holding a special session to review the grave human rights situation in Sudan. We hope that the Council will take these latest attacks into full consideration and act with urgency, including moving swiftly toward a strong resolution that addresses these escalating crimes and protects civilians.
